HMP Cardiff

Cardiff prison sits on Knox Road, a Victorian local a short cab from Queen Street, still taking the capital’s courts. Parc (Bridgend, private, huge) is the other South Wales name. Swansea is the second city local. Three prisons, three gates.

What HMP Cardiff is

HMP Cardiff is a men’s Category B local. It is HMPPS, not the G4S/contractor world at Parc. Welsh court papers still send men here first.

Locating someone at HMP Cardiff

HMP Cardiff does not publish a landing list. Use GOV.UK Find a prisoner with name and date of birth. HMPPS only confirms the prison if the person consents. If they were in court today, wait until the next working day before you decide the form is wrong.

Visiting HMP Cardiff

Book HMP Cardiff through the national prison-visits service and the official GOV.UK page. You must already be on the visitor list. Session times change; we only reprint a timetable when we have fetched it from that page.

Getting to Cardiff

Cardiff Central or Queen Street, then a short taxi to Knox Road. It is central. Parking is a city-centre fight.
