What HMP Oakwood is
HMP Oakwood opened as a large Category C trainer under a private operator. Capacity is in the low thousands in public reporting — treat GOV.UK as the live figure.
It is next-door geography to HMP Featherstone. Taxi drivers who work the estate still mix the signs. Read yours.
Locating someone at HMP Oakwood
HMP Oakwood does not publish a landing list. Use GOV.UK Find a prisoner with name and date of birth. HMPPS only confirms the prison if the person consents. If they were in court today, wait until the next working day before you decide the form is wrong.
Visiting HMP Oakwood
Book HMP Oakwood through the national prison-visits service and the official GOV.UK page. You must already be on the visitor list. Session times change; we only reprint a timetable when we have fetched it from that page.
Getting to Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton station, then bus/taxi towards Featherstone / Oaks Drive. It is not a walk from the city. Driving is common; follow the Oakwood visitors’ entrance, not Featherstone’s.
