What HMP Dartmoor is
HMP Dartmoor holds adult men. It is one of the oldest operating sites in the estate, still a working closed prison.
Channings Wood and Exeter are off the moor. Do not underestimate travel time in winter.
Locating someone at HMP Dartmoor
HMP Dartmoor does not publish a landing list. Use GOV.UK Find a prisoner with name and date of birth. HMPPS only confirms the prison if the person consents. If they were in court today, wait until the next working day before you decide the form is wrong.
Visiting HMP Dartmoor
Book HMP Dartmoor through the national prison-visits service and the official GOV.UK page. You must already be on the visitor list. Session times change; we only reprint a timetable when we have fetched it from that page.
Getting to Princetown
Plymouth or Exeter, then a bus to Princetown when services run, or drive via Yelverton. Taxis from Tavistock are common for families.
