Évora: how this area actually works
Évora is a walled city that visitors treat as a monument. The temple and the chapel of bones are not the prison system. Estremoz, Montemor-o-Novo, and the marble towns are other municipalities, and a hotel inside the walls can be the wrong parish. Police custody is not a visit. DGRSP places people in an establishment that may sit outside the Roman centre or in another district after a transfer. The justice site will not search a surname. Ask the lawyer which address is current before you pay for a room on the square. The aqueduct is not a gate. This district is not the Algarve.
Families drive from Lisbon and assume the Alentejo is empty of separate establishments. A Lisbon permission, including Linhó in Sintra or Monsanto, does not open Évora. A Beja permission does not either. Women and younger people may be placed outside the district. This page is not a roll of prisoners. If the papers name Faro, use the Faro guide and do not stop in the marble towns. Confirm the week of travel. A release to an address in Estremoz or Vendas Novas ends the prison visit. The regional tourism office will not add a visitor.
Visits need authorisation and identification. This guide copies no timetable. Heat on the plain and infrequent buses both fail slots. Money and parcels follow the rules of that establishment. If the person moves, start again. Use the municipality on the letter. A postcard of the chapel of bones will not get you through the door, and a wine hotel in Reguengos is useless when the establishment is in Évora. Read the street before you leave the station. Montemor does not share that desk. Confirm the town before you pay today.
Finding someone held in Évora
Confirm the establishment and the town. Évora is not Beja and not Lisbon. There is no public name search.
The walled centre is not the default gate. Match the papers before you book a monument hotel.
Visits and family practicalities
Follow DGRSP notices for the named establishment. Bring identification. This page lists no hours.
An Évora permission does not open Estremoz unless the letter says so. If the person is moved, rebook before you cross the plain.
Getting around Évora
Évora station links toward Lisbon. The practical airport is Lisbon, in another district. The establishment is not the temple square. Use official directions, not a walking-tour pin.
Drivers use the A6. A hotel inside the walls is the wrong base when the gate is outside them. Leave margin for heat. Read the municipality twice before you pay, and do not follow a wine-route map to the gate. Estremoz is not Évora. Leave the afternoon clear of the monuments, and keep the permission with the postcode before the last bus. The marble towns are not a visiting room. Do not sleep in Lisbon because the motorway looks easy today. Montemor is a different town. Leave a spare hour on the plain before evening. The cork groves and the marble quarries are not the establishment. A hotel in Beja fails when the papers name Évora. Read the district twice before you pay today. Arraiolos is not the walled city. Do not treat a Lisbon airport night as this gate. The chapel of bones is a monument. Leave the evening clear of the square. Viana do Alentejo is not the capital. Arraiolos rugs are not the gate.
