HMP/YOI Isis

Isis is the young-men prison on the Thamesmead campus — not Belmarsh, not Thameside, and not a children’s YOI in the Feltham sense. Families hear “Western Way” and walk to the high-security gate. The sign on the visitors’ centre is the only map that matters.

Young adult men, same road name as Belmarsh

HMP/YOI Isis holds young adult men (the public description is a Category C trainer / YOI hybrid) on the Belmarsh site at Western Way, Thamesmead. It was built to take pressure off Feltham and the London locals for the 18–30 group. It is still a closed prison with a full search at the gate.

Education and workshops are the official story. Your story as a visitor is booking the Isis desk, not the Belmarsh PACT number you found on a forum.

Locator first

Find a prisoner on GOV.UK. If the result says Isis, do not present at Belmarsh. If it says Belmarsh, do not present at Isis. The campus layout punishes guesswork.

Visits

Use GOV.UK’s Isis guidance and the national prison-visits service. We have not copied a slot grid here because we did not treat an unofficial source as good enough. Recheck official times before you travel. ID rules match the rest of the London estate.

Thamesmead campus

Abbey Wood station, then buses into Thamesmead. Western Way is shared wording on envelopes for more than one prison. Read the establishment name on your booking confirmation out loud before you get in the taxi.

Questions about HMP/YOI Isis

Is Isis the same as Feltham?
No. Feltham is the west London YOI / prison in East Bedfont. Isis is the Thamesmead young-men prison beside Belmarsh.
