Vila Real: how this area actually works
Vila Real sits above the Corgo with a university that visitors treat as the whole town. Chaves, Peso da Régua, Sabrosa, and Murça are other municipalities, and a hotel on a vineyard terrace can be the wrong parish. Police custody is not a visit. DGRSP may keep someone in this district or move them west to Porto after classification. The justice site will not search a surname. Ask the lawyer which address is current before you pay for a room because the Douro is famous. The Palácio de Mateus is not a gate. This district is not Porto and not Bragança, however short the A4 looks.
Families treat Régua as the prison because every cruise stops there. A visit permission for Porto, recorded as North, does not open Vila Real. Bragança is the neighbour to the east. Women and younger people may be placed outside this interior district. This page is not a roll of prisoners. If the papers name North, use the Porto district guide. Confirm the week of travel. A release to an address in Chaves or Régua ends the prison plan. The quinta offices will not add a visitor. The Spanish border toward Verín is another country. Chaves is not Vila Real.
Visits need authorisation and identification. This guide copies no timetable. Mountain roads and thin bus timetables fail slots that a Porto family does not expect. Money and parcels follow the rules of that establishment. If the person moves to the coast, start again. Municipalities do not share a visiting room. Use the address on the letter. A postcard of the terraces will not get you through the door, and a hotel in Pinhão is useless when the establishment is in Vila Real. Read the street before you leave the station today. Régua is a different day from the capital.
Finding someone held in Vila Real
Confirm the establishment and the town. Vila Real is not Porto and not Bragança. There is no public name search.
Régua is not the default gate. Match the papers before you book a vineyard hotel.
Visits and family practicalities
Follow DGRSP notices for the named establishment. Bring identification. This page lists no hours.
A Vila Real permission does not open Porto. Lawyers use their own route. If the person is moved, rebook before you drive the A4.
Getting around Vila Real
Vila Real has coaches and a slow interior rail story; most visitors come by road from Porto on the A4. The establishment is not Mateus. Use official directions.
Drivers use the A4 and the N222 along the Douro. A hotel in Peso da Régua or in Porto is the wrong base unless the papers name those places. Leave margin for harvest traffic and for winter fog. Read the municipality twice before you pay, and do not follow a cruise map to the gate. Chaves is not Vila Real. Leave the afternoon clear of the terraces, and keep the permission with the postcode before the last bus. Pinhão’s station is not a visiting room. Do not sleep in Spain because Verín looks close today. Sabrosa is a separate town. Leave a spare hour in the hills. A port-wine quinta is not the establishment. Read the district twice before you pay, and do not treat a Porto airport hotel as Vila Real. The river is longer than the postcard.
