Calabria: how this area actually works

Catanzaro is the regional capital, and families often miss it because they land at Lamezia or look across the strait from Reggio toward Sicily. Reggio Calabria faces Messina. Cosenza is inland to the north. Crotone is on the Ionian side. A person arrested in Reggio is not held on the ferry to Sicily. Police custody is not the colloquio. Drivers use the A2. A hotel in Tropea or Scilla is the wrong base unless the papers name that town. Sicily is another region once you board the ferry. Leave margin for the mountain road. Read the municipality twice before you pay, and do not follow a beach map to the gate. Cosenza is not Reggio. Leave the afternoon clear of the strait, and keep the permission with the postcode before evening traffic. Crotone is not Catanzaro. Do not sleep in Messina because the ferry looks easy today. The Aspromonte is not a visiting room. Tropea’s beach is not Catanzaro. Leave a spare hour on the mountain road today, and read the province twice before you pay. Locri stays on the Ionian side.
