Centre-Val de Loire: how this area actually works
Saran, north of Orléans, is the working address behind an 'Orléans prison' search. It is a bus or taxi from the station, not the cathedral. Tours has its own maison for the Indre-et-Loire courts. Châteaudun appears in family searches for the Eure-et-Loir side, which is not Chartres town centre and not Paris. Bourges, Blois and Châteauroux are préfecture and court towns on the Loire and the Cher. Paris overflow has historically leaked south into this région, and it still is not Île-de-France. Fleury-Mérogis is in Essonne, a different page, even when the A10 makes it feel like the same drive.
A person sentenced in Orléans or Tours can be placed far from the Loire because the local maisons are remand and short-sentence tools, not the whole national estate. The juge d'instruction controls many remand visits. The chef d'établissement issues the permis for sentenced prisoners. Chartres looks toward Paris and still feeds this région's rules when the letter says so. Do not assume a Versailles or Évry case stayed on the Loire. Blois, Bourges and Chateauroux are court towns inside this region and still not Saran. Blois is not the Tours gate.
This page groups prisons recorded as Centre-Val de Loire. It does not list people at Saran, Tours or Châteaudun. GENESIS is internal. Read justice.gouv.fr and the établissement notice. Do not continue to Fleury out of habit, and do not treat a châteaux itinerary as a map of the gates. Saran, Tours and Chateaudun are three addresses. Chartres is on the Paris line and is the wrong stop unless the letter says so. Bourges and Chateaudun are not Chartres and not Fleury. Do not confuse them with Essonne or with Paris.
Finding someone held in Centre-Val de Loire
There is no public list for Orléans-Saran, Tours or Châteaudun. The lawyer and the greffe confirm placement. justice.gouv.fr explains how families ask and does not show a roll. GENESIS is closed. A hearing day in Orléans may be too early. Do not phone Saran and ask for a name. A Loire forum post is not an official location. Saran will not read names to a caller, and Tours will not either. Wait for the official written reply. Chateaudun too. Really check.
Saran is not Tours, and Châteaudun is not Chartres. Bourges is not a substitute you choose. If the letter names Fleury-Mérogis, Fresnes or a Nantes house, you have left Centre-Val de Loire. The permis de visite must match the établissement actually holding the person, not the town of the château you already booked. Bourges and Blois are not backup gates you invent on the day. Chartres is not a backup for Saran. Orleans station is not the prison. Leave slack.
Visits and family practicalities
Apply for the permis through the route for that house. Remand can require the juge d'instruction in Orléans or Tours. This page does not invent parloir hours for Saran. Read the notice before you leave Paris Austerlitz.
Bring the identification listed. Phones stay outside. A Saran approval will not open Tours. If the person moved to Essonne overnight, the Loire ticket is wasted. Re-check before you drive the A10 or take the TER toward Blois and Tours.
Getting around Centre-Val de Loire
Austerlitz and the A10 are the usual approaches from Paris. Orléans station then needs a bus or taxi north to Saran. Tours is a separate Loire city, not a tram from Orléans. Châteaudun is a smaller Eure-et-Loir leg. Chartres is on the Paris line and is the wrong stop unless the letter says Chartres.
Drivers should leave slack for the Francilienne and for summer traffic toward the châteaux. Parking at Saran is limited. Use the official address. Do not finish at the Orléans cathedral or at Chambord. Those are not the maison d'arrêt.
