Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County: how this area actually works
Flat Tisza floodplain, the Jászság in the north-west, and Nagykun towns spaced along straight roads. Floods, not hills, are the geographic event. Pest and Heves lie west and north, Borsod and Hajdú-Bihar east, Csongrád-Csanád and Bács-Kiskun south. Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok vármegye is the name you will see on court stamps, road signs, and the heading of a local letter even when the English page you are reading says Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County.
Szolnok’s rail workshops and services, plus agriculture. There is no tourist season large enough to hide a wrong address. The triple name confuses foreigners into thinking there are three capitals. There is one county seat. Put Szolnok in the plan for a concrete reason — the county seat on the Tisza, rail junction and BV town.
Jászberény matters here because it is the centre of the Jászság in the north-west. Put Karcag in the plan for a concrete reason — a Nagykun town east of the Tisza. The administrative centre is Szolnok. That city is where regional offices cluster; it is not automatically where a sentenced or remanded person is held.
Finding someone held in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County
The county court is in Szolnok. Jászberény, Karcag, and Mezőtúr are district centres. Szolnok’s BV institution is the local gate. Tiszalök, often mentioned in the same breath, is in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg, a different county up the Tisza. Do not merge them. There is no public roster you can query on bv.gov.hu. Placement is an administrative fact, released to the people entitled to it, not a webpage.

Tisza floods can close minor roads. Summer heat is the default, not an exception. Save the gate address in Hungarian as well as English, and carry a paper copy. Rural approaches to institutions are often poorly labelled for visitors who only followed a motorway sign into Szolnok.
